What is your ‘A’ in SMART?

Over the years I have been introduced to many words that are represented by the ‘A’  in SMART Goals.  The most common word is ‘Attainable’ though I believe that when writing goals it is even more important that you use A for ‘As If”.

As if the goal has already happened…. lets use the goal of increasing revenue by $15,000 per month by Dec 31, 2012.  Most people will write that goal as a variation of I will generate $15,000 or more in additional monthly revenue by December 31st, 2012.  The goal should read….Its December 31st, 2012 and I have created more that $15,000 in additional monthly revenue.

Why do you believe it might be more powerful to write your goals this way?
